The theme of this year's International Women’s Day is #InspireInclusion, seeking to inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion.
International Women's Day (IWD) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Each year, this day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made towards gender equality and highlights the work that still needs to be done.
In 2024, the theme Inspire Inclusion emphasises the importance of diversity and empowerment in all aspects of society.
This year's campaign underscores the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality. It calls for action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create environments where all women are valued and respected.
At Studio Pacific, we recognise that fostering a culture of inclusion is not only the right thing to do but also essential for our success. Inclusive workplaces are more innovative, creative, and better equipped to navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing world. By championing inclusion, we can harness the full potential of diverse perspectives, leading to better decision-making and innovation.
We’ve collated a few things we can all do to collectively inspire inclusion and create a world where everyone feels heard, valued, and empowered.
Amplify Voices
Take a moment to listen to the stories and experiences of the women and everyone in our organisation. By amplifying people’s voices, we not only acknowledge their achievements but also create an environment where everyone feels seen and heard.
Mentorship and Support
Getting involved in mentorship programmes and initiatives will help provide guidance and and support for people in their professional development. By fostering mentorship, we can help people navigate their careers and overcome any obstacles they may encounter.
Architecture + Women NZ regularly host online mentoring and speed mentoring events.
Educate and Raise Awareness
Promote educational sessions and discussions that highlight the importance of equality and inclusion. Knowledge is a powerful tool, and by increasing awareness, we can collectively work towards breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes.
Celebrate Achievements
Take the time to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of women. By recognising successes, we not only create an inclusive environment but also inspire others to strive for excellence.
To inspire inclusion means to celebrate diversity and empowerment on International Women's Day 2024 and beyond.
When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world.
And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.
Me aro koe ki te hā o Hine-ahu-one.
Pay heed to the dignity of women.
This whakataukī encourages people to respect and honour the essence, spirit, and dignity of women. “Hine-ahu-one” refers to the primal woman, often associated with the creation story in Māori tradition. The whakataukī serves as a reminder to acknowledge and value the contributions, wisdom and well-being of women.
Happy International Women’s Day!
