Te Manawataki o Te Papa: Progress on Tauranga's Sustainable Mass Timber Library and Community Hub

Te Manawataki o Te Papa, Tauranga’s new Library and Community Hub, is taking shape with its innovative mass timber structure. Featuring sustainable CLT and LVL materials, the project is set to achieve a 6 Green Star rating for environmental excellence.

We are excited to see the progress on Te Manawataki o Te Papa, Tauranga’s new Library and Community Hub. The timber structure is beginning to take shape, marking a key phase in this significant project.

The building utilises Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) for its beams, columns, floors, and cores. These mass timber materials not only provide strength and durability but also align with our ongoing commitment to sustainable design. This project is on track to achieve a 6 Green Star rating, reflecting its high performance in environmental and energy efficiency.

Studio Pacific has long championed the use of sustainable materials, and Te Manawataki o Te Papa continues this legacy. Our extensive experience with mass timber solutions plays a key role in delivering designs that are both innovative and environmentally responsible.

We are proud to collaborate with Tauranga City Council and Willis Bond in bringing this important community space to life.
