We are delighted to announce that Tākina, Wellington’s Convention and Exhibition Centre, has been recognised as the World-Architects Building of the Week.
Notable as the largest public project in Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, since the completion of the Wellington Regional Stadium in early 2000, Tākina – Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre features a shimmering glass facade facing Wellington Harbour.
A Wellington Landmark: Tākina is a symbol of Wellington's commitment to forward-thinking design and environmental responsibility. Designed with sustainability at its core, the building features innovative technology that reduces energy consumption while providing a versatile space for events, exhibitions, and gatherings. The centre aims to connect people, ideas, and culture, making it a vital addition to the city's infrastructure.
Sustainable Design for the Future: Tākina has been recognised for its strong focus on sustainable architecture. The building incorporates energy-efficient lighting, rainwater harvesting, and sustainable materials, ensuring it meets rigorous environmental standards. By integrating green technologies, Tākina contributes to Wellington City Council’s 2040 goal of becoming a more sustainable and resilient city. This forward-thinking approach serves as a model for future developments.
Collaborative Innovation: We are proud to have worked alongside key stakeholders, engineers, and designers to bring Tākina to life. This project represents a true collaboration, where design excellence and creativity were guided by the desire to make a lasting positive impact on both the built environment and the community.
Being named as World-Architects Building of the Week highlights Tākina’s importance not just for Wellington, but for architecture globally. We are thrilled to see our work on Tākina celebrated and look forward to continuing to contribute to projects that shape our cities for future generations.
