Congratulations to Daryl Calder who is celebrating 30 years with Studio Pacific this month.
This year marks a significant milestone as we celebrate Senior Principal Daryl Calder’s 30-year tenure at Studio Pacific. Since joining the studio in 1995, Daryl has been a cornerstone of our team, contributing to a diverse array of projects that have shaped New Zealand's architectural landscape.
Reflecting on Daryl’s incredible contributions, Managing Director Nick Barratt-Boyes shares:

Daryl joined Studio Pacific in 1995, just a few years after the studio was established, and has been an integral part of our team ever since. A Registered Architect since 1998, Daryl brings a wealth of knowledge and creativity to every project he undertakes, from complex commercial developments to community-focused spaces. His commitment to excellence and ability to balance vision with practicality have made him a trusted mentor and collaborator within the studio and across the industry.
Some notable projects Daryl has contributed to include:
New Zealand Parliament – West Precinct
Daryl is currently leading the delivery of three new buildings at New Zealand’s Parliament, a significant redevelopment that enhances security, accessibility, and functionality within the Parliamentary campus. His expertise in managing complex heritage and government projects is instrumental in shaping this important civic space for the future.
Tākina – Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre
One of Daryl's most notable recent achievements is leading the design and construction of Tākina, Wellington's new convention and exhibition centre. This project exemplifies his ability to manage complex, large-scale developments, delivering a landmark facility that enriches the cultural fabric of the city.
Beaumont Quarter Masterplan and Housing
Daryl played a pivotal role in the Beaumont Quarter Masterplan in Auckland, overseeing the transformation of a former gasworks site into a vibrant residential community. His leadership ensured the successful integration of contemporary design with historical context, creating a cohesive and dynamic urban environment.
Ministry of Social Development
Daryl also led the interior workplace design for the Ministry of Social Development, crafting functional and engaging workspaces that meet the diverse needs of its users. His attention to detail and commitment to user-centric design have set new standards for workplace environments.
One Market Lane Apartments
