Julie Stewart and Mitch McTaggart Celebrate 10 Years with Studio Pacific

We are thrilled to celebrate two significant milestones at Studio Pacific as Julie Stewart and Mitch McTaggart mark 10 years with our practice. Over the past decade, both Julie and Mitch have played an integral role in shaping projects, mentoring teams, and enriching the culture of our studio.

Julie Stewart

Julie is a Principal at Studio Pacific and has been a driving force in many of our complex and high-profile projects. With over 20 years of experience in New Zealand and the UK, she has contributed to a broad range of projects, from new homes in Hobsonville to designing new buildings at New Zealand’s Parliament and leading the refurbishment of heritage buildings. These projects reflect her deep understanding of heritage and sensitive site considerations, combined with a strong design approach that ensures successful outcomes for clients and communities.

Beyond project work, Julie is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in both the studio and the wider architecture profession. As a member of our Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, she provides strategic direction that strengthens our studio culture. She also shares her expertise beyond Studio Pacific, participating in academic critiques and mentoring students at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. We are also delighted to have recently welcomed her as a shareholder.

Julie, ka nui te mihi ki a koe—we are incredibly grateful for your dedication and look forward to many more years of collaboration!

Mitch McTaggart

Mitch joined Studio Pacific in 2015 after honing his skills at architectural practices in London and Melbourne. His experience spans a diverse range of building typologies, including award-winning cultural and commercial buildings and large-scale residential projects.

As a Senior Associate and Design Lead within our Commercial Buildings team, Mitch plays a key role in delivering innovative and thoughtful design solutions. His recent projects include Te Maru o Tawatawa Britomart Street Social Housing, 48 Mulgrave Street, and Te Manawataki o Te Papa Library & Community Hub, currently under construction in Tauranga—both of which reflect his ability to balance functionality, aesthetics, and urban impact.

Mitch is also passionate about hauora hinengaro (mental health and wellbeing) in the workplace. As a Mental Health First Aider, he supports the studio’s commitment to fostering a positive and supportive work environment. His leadership, mentorship, and technical expertise continue to shape the way we work and design at Studio Pacific.

Mitch, he tino whakaihiihi tō mahi—congratulations on this milestone, and thank you for all that you bring to the team!
