The Overlea precinct in Tāmaki, Auckland proposes a unique and compact neighbourhood of homes within a sloping site that has a rich history of state housing servicing a range of community demographics.
The plan for Overlea is characterised by a sub-network of compact internal public roads and fine pedestrian linkages that form a community of new houses centred around a quiet network of interconnected streets. The intention of the overall structure of the roads is to create a clearly legible street environment that promotes slow vehicle speed. The design of the streets promotes safe pedestrian and cycle use and provides for car parking and significant landscape amenity including street trees and planting.
